Kenneth “Kenny” Howard,  74, of Rensselaer, passed away at 2:24 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

Kenny was born June 18, 1946 in McCoysburg, Indiana to the late Therman H. & Roxie L. (Robinson) Howard.  Kenny attended schools in the Rensselaer and Wolcott Area and graduated from Rensselaer Central High School in the class of 1964.

Kenny was owner of Howard Construction and retired in 2007.

Kenny was an avid outdoorsman enjoying trapping, hunting, fishing, deer watching, golfing and being ornery every chance he could.  In November of this year, Kenny shot a 16 point buck, the biggest buck he had ever gotten.  Kenny also enjoyed watching Purdue basketball, playing cards and following Hesson Racing #37.

Kenny was a lifetime member of the Iroquois Archery Club and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Remington.  He was a member of Hazelden Country Club until it closed; then played golf the last couple years at Curtis Creek Country Club in Rensselaer.

Kenny enjoyed passing on his knowledge of hunting, fishing and golfing to his nephews and many special young friends over the years.  Special mention: Ryan Byrd, Andy Thomas, Spencer Duncan, Jake Byrd, Hollis Howard, Curt Martin, Tom Martin and Dayne Bowles.

Some of Kenny’s best memories were going to Wisconsin fishing with his wife and friends, DJ Kluesner, Gene Lanie and Ira Wilson.  Being a part of the Hesson Racing Team #37 and watching and rooting on the team at Shady Hill Race Track.  Kenny really enjoyed the golf league with his cousin Ron Robinson and his golfing buddies that he played with for many years.  He also enjoyed working at the Iroquois Archery Club with his good friend Henry Stevens.

Kenny always had a smile on his face and a joke to share with everyone and making memories with loved ones.

Surviving with his wife are siblings, Katie (Arlie) Black of Remington, Hollis Howard of Otterbein.  Also surviving are Sister and Brother in laws, Judy and Larry Wirtz of Kentland and Pat and Darrell Dunlap of Rensselaer.  Kenny loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces, Jean (Rodney) Crawford of Bloomington, IL, Roxane (Jeff) Byrd of Remington, Pam & Kylie Taylor of Lafayette, Arlene Fontaine of Lafayette and Tina (Mark) Fout of Connorsville, IN.
