Leisha's Obituary
Leisha “Gail” Phillippi, 65, of Brookston, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Franciscan Health Hospital of Lafayette. Born on March 8, 1960, in Lafayette to the late Joseph and Theresa Johnson, Gail was a 1979 graduate of McCutcheon High School. She married Rodney Phillippi on June 27, 1981, who survives her.
Gail was a past member of the Pentecostal Church of God, Emmanuel Bible Church, and First Assembly of God and worked as a cashier at Target for 11 years. She was an artist at heart, enjoying working with paints, charcoals, and other mediums. Her true passion was reading, with a collection of over seven thousand books. Gail also loved her pet cats over the years.
She is survived by her husband Rodney, their children Joshua (Heather) Phillippi, Samuel Phillippi, and Matthew Phillippi, her siblings Joe Johnson and Christine Holloway, and her cherished grandchildren Cassidy, Abigail, and Anastia.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3 PM (EST) on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Gail to the National Kidney Foundation or Well Spouse Association.
