Linda P. Klinkhamer, 77, of Brookston, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 in Lafayette.
She was born October 21, 1943 in Lafayette to the late Harold and Bessie (Oilar) Hague. Linda graduated from Brookston High School in 1961.
Her marriage of 57 years was to Robert C. Klinkhamer on December 9, 1963 in Brookston at the Brookston Federated Church. Bob preceded her in death just over a month ago on January 2, 2021.
Linda worked at the C&D Battery Factory in Brookston for many years until the Brookston facility closed and moved to Attica. While at C&D Linda also worked nights waitressing at Denny’s in Lafayette, she loved the interaction with her guests. Lastly, Linda worked for Purdue University in food service, moving between buildings as needed over her 20 plus year career.
Mrs. Klinkhamer was a member of the Brookston Federated Church, the Brookston Lions Club, and the Moose Lodge of Lafayette. She enjoyed playing BINGO at the Eagles Lodge on South 18th as well. Linda and her good friend, Judy Needham were regular Euchre players at the Top Notch in Brookston for many years.
Above all, Linda was a loving mom and grandma. She loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren compete in their high school sporting events. Linda was also an avid sports fan, especially of the Chicago Cubs and Purdue University.
Surviving are her children, Dane Klinkhamer (wife: Jennifer) of Brookston and Lisa Schwartz (husband: Jeff) of Lafayette; and her brother, John Hague (wife: Peg) of Brookston. Linda cherished her grandchildren, Kala, Whitney, McKenna and Connor and her two step-grandchildren, Megan and Kayla and her 8 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death with her parents and husband is a brother, Donald Hague.
A visitation for close friends and family will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. followed by a private family funeral at 1 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2021 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston, Pastor David Doles and Rev. Dr Lelan D. McReynolds to officiate.
