Lynda Gehrke, 59, of Monticello, formerly of Rensselaer, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Monticello Healthcare. Lynda had been in failing health since 2016.
She was born January 14, 1963 in Rensselaer to Scottie and Shirley (Milliner) Cook. Lynda was a 1981 graduate of Rensselaer High School.
Her first marriage was to Steve Barkely in 1981, they would later divorce. She then married Don Gehrke in 1993 until their divorce.
Lynda was a member of the Methodist Church in both Rensselaer and North Judson. She worked as a receptionist clerk at Heritage Office Supply in Rensselaer and later in North Judson. Lynda especially enjoyed her work at San Pierre St. Mary’s Nursing Home helping with activities for the residents. Lynda also was an accomplished Pampered Chef Consultant for several years obtaining many awards for her hard work and dedication. Lynda always had a smile for everyone and will be deeply missed.
Lynda loved spending time with her family, going on camping trips, and attending sporting events of family members.
She is survived by her daughters, Deidre Davis and Lena Gehrke; grandchildren, Tucker, McKenzie, and Kaylee Davis. Father, Scottie Cook; siblings, Cathy (Bret) Mattocks, Jeff (Terri) Cook, Jason (Nicole) Cook, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Lynda is preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Cook.
Friends may call from 2 PM (EDT) until the time of Memorial Service 4 PM (EDT) Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Clapper Family Funeral Home of Monon. Pastor Andy Martin to officiate.
