Margaret Ann Christensen

March 19, 1921 - November 12, 2020

Margaret Ann (Nee Price) Christensen, age 99, of Monticello, IN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 12, 2020. She was preceded in death by her infinity +2, loving husband, Wesley “Christy” Christensen; brother, Mark Price; son and daughter in-law, Norman and Helen Ferrier; two grandchildren: Billy and Jennifer. She is survived by her children: Alan (Jane) Avnet of Wright City, MO, Nancy Hubbard of Kingsley, MI, and Linda Bruce (Dale Brady) of Monticello, IN; her grandchildren: Tonia (Tracey) Dooley, Tia Rian, Tammy (Paul) Kim, Chris (Dawn) Moncado, Carol (Steve) Maldonado, Connie Deal, and Jay (Cindy) Avnet; 27 great-grandchildren, and 28 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her special friends: Hope Ann Harvey, Charlotte Rose, Terri Vandervort, and Mary Foulks.

She was born in Wixom, MI, on March 19, 1921, to Brown and Clara (Goldsmith) Price. She became a nurse in 1949 and later was part-owner of a sporting goods store. During her time in Michigan, she was an avid hunter and fisherman. After moving to Chicago in the 1960’s, she became an office manager in the City. She then retired to Ogdensburg, Wisconsin, where many of the grandchildren spent time enjoying the quiet countryside. This is where she met her soul-mate, Christy. They traveled the country while spending many winters in Sebring, Florida. She and Christy made Monticello their permanent home in 1999. Some of the organizations she was involved with were the Red Hat’s Society, and Amvets Post 91. She was a die-hard Cubs fan and loved the Green Bay Packers’. A few things she was known for was her generosity with her time and money, making funny faces, and her no-fear attitude. This was evident when she parachuted out of an airplane not once, but twice at the young age of 85. After Christy’s passing in 2004, Margaret Ann has been under the loving care of her daughter, Linda, as they became permanent roommates. This year, at the age of 99, she continued enjoying the great outdoors by camping three times, going to the pumpkin patch, and spending time with family at the house. She will always be remembered as living life to the fullest and will be missed by many.

The family would like to thank the staff at IU Health in Lafayette and IU White in Monticello for their love and tender care of Margaret Ann and the family.

Private Memorial Services for the family will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Clapper Family Funeral Home in Monon, IN. The private visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. EST with the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. EST. Burial will follow at the Monon Chapel Cemetery in Monon, IN.
