Marilyn E. High

Marilyn E. High, 91, of Chalmers, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Five star Residences of Lafayette. She was born February 5, 1931 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana to the late James and Laura (Martin) Best. Marilyn was a 1949 graduate of Montmorenci High School.

Her marriage was to Isaac High on October 9, 1951 in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Lafayette. Isaac preceded her in death on April 2, 1997.

Marilyn was a long time member of Chalmers Community Church and was a dedicated Avon Representative for 66 years. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles, crocheting, and knitting. Her true love was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Bruce (Sara) High of Chalmers, Cindy (Marty) Denham of Chalmers, and Alice (Rick) Johnson of Lafayette. Grandchildren, Shane High, Shawn (Kelly) High, Matthew (Amanda) High, Andy Denham (Companion: Astride), Loiy High (Companion: Anthony), Nathan (Audra) High, Katie Denham (Companion: Jon), and Brandon (Aubry) Johnson. Marilyn is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death along with her husband and parents is a son, Robert High; two siblings, James Best Jr. and Donola Best.

Friends may call from 11 AM (EST) until the time of Funeral Service 1 PM (EST) Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Pastor Bill Henderson to officiate. Private interment will be held at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens of West Lafayette.

Memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn’s name to the Chalmers Community Church.
