Martha's Obituary
Martha “Ann” Kiger, 89, of Brookston, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Monday, September 18, 2023 at IU Health Arnett Hospital of Lafayette. She was born August 21, 1934 in Frankfort, IN to the late Glen R. and Bertie D. (Marshall) Smith. Ann was a 1952 graduate of Brookston High School.
Her marriage was to Jack L. Kiger on March 19, 1953. Jack preceded her in death on January 24, 2009.
Ann was a faithful member of Delphi First Assembly of God. She supported various charities and organizations including, One Child, missionaries, nursing home visits with residents, and working the church thrift shop.
Ann and Jack owned and operated AJ Trucking where she took care of all bookkeeping needs. She enjoyed spending her time reading, working on crossword puzzles, reading scripture, canning and gardening. Ann also enjoyed flowers, bird watching, and loved her pet dogs throughout the years. Above all, Ann cherished time spent with her family and will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her children, Kenton (Teresa) Kiger of Brookston, Phil (Sheila) Kiger of Brookston, Neil (Linda) Kiger of Monticello, and Sharon Calles also of Brookston. Ann cherished time spent with her 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Robert Smith of Roswell, GA.
Preceding her in death along with her husband and parents is one sister, Mary Jo Bell.
Friends may call from 9 AM (EST) until the time of Funeral Service 11 AM (EST) Monday, September 25, 2023 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Interment to follow in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens of West Lafayette. Pastor Brent Oliver of Delphi First Assembly of God to officiate.
