Martha S. Ward, 88, of Columbus, IN, formerly of Brookston, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Our Hospice of Columbus, IN.
She was born September 8, 1933 in Spring Valley, IL to the late Raymond and Della (Keim) Walsh. Martha was a graduate of Hall Township High School of Spring Valley.
Her marriage was to Donald N. Ward on July 30, 1955 in Spring Valley; he preceded her in death on March 27, 2013.
Martha was a member of numerous United Methodist Churches. She loved spending time with friends and family, cherished her grandchildren, and was a huge Chicago Cubs fan. Martha was an accomplished piano player, fantastic cook, and enjoyed fishing, playing bridge, and golfing. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Illinois Power Co. and later Purdue University until her retirement.
She is survived by her children, Thomas C. Ward (wife: Diane) Auburn, IN, Joan M. Land (Bert Embry) of Hope, IN, and Carol W. Farrell (Tim Hendrickson) of West Lafayette, IN. Grandchildren, Anne Delagrange, Kate Baughman, Joshua W. Land, Molly A. Land, Joseph D. Land, Kelly J. Farrell, and Mason D. Farrell. Great-grandchildren, Will and Ben Delagrange, Crew Land.
Preceding her in death along with her husband and parents is one son, Robert D. Ward and brother, Thomas Walsh.
Friends may call from 12 PM (EDT) until the time of Funeral Service 2 PM (EDT) Friday, August 26, 2022 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home (101 W. 4th St. Brookston, IN 47923). Pastor Brian White to officiate. Interment to follow in Brookston IOOF Cemetery.
