Marvin's Obituary

Marvin Eugene “Gene” Porter III, 51, of Remington, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Indiana Health University Hospital of Indianapolis surrounded by his wife and children. Born on November 13, 1974, in Lafayette, Gene was the beloved son of Denise M. (Welsh) Porter and the late Marvin Eugene Porter Jr.

Gene was a proud 1993 graduate of Tri-County High School. Gene graduated from PCI in January of 1996, after which he became a Medical Assistant, where he met his wife. He married Stefanie Lipp on September 23, 2000, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Remington, and together they built a loving family. Gene worked as a delivery driver for many years as well as a fertilizer technician at Clark's Cutting Edge. Gene spent 20 years in the Indianapolis area but cherished his life in Remington. Gene's lifelong passion was farming, and he farmed for his cousin, Tim Budreau, for the last few years.

Gene's other passions included following IU basketball, golfing, enjoying golf cart rides with his dog Duncan, camping at Earl Park, playing cornhole, and spending time laughing with family and friends. Gene was a genuine person who had an infectious smile. His ability to find the positive side of every situation was a comfort to most. He gave the best of himself wholeheartedly to everyone. He was an amazing father, husband, brother, and friend.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Stefanie, and their children, Kane and Chezney Porter, both of Remington. He also leaves behind his mother, Denise Porter; siblings, Molly (Jason) Brown of Monticello and Aaron (Tasha) Porter of Whitestown; brother-in-law, Martin (Beth) Lipp of Connersville; father-in-law, Ellis Lipp; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
