Michele's Obituary
Ellen Michele LaMothe, 75, of Chicago, passed away at 6:00 a.m., March 17, 2023 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital of Chicago.
Michele was born September 26, 1947 in Lafayette to the late David J. and Elvy A. (Osterlund) LaMothe. She was a 1965 graduate of Lafayette Central Catholic High School. In 1969, Michele graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
Michele was a proud parent to her only son, Joseph “Joey” LaMothe of Chicago, IL. Since Joey was special needs, Michele dedicated her life to his care and was always by his side. She volunteered at Misericordia, where Joey went for therapy, was part of the Misericordia Women’s Board and served as their treasurer for several years.
Surviving with her son is her sister, Margaret "Peggy" Finley (Tom) of TN, sister-in[1]law Janet LaMothe, nieces Catherine Sweeney (Matt) of Ringwood, IL, Michele Lundquist (Allan) of Indianapolis, IN, Christina Wetenkamp (Dan) of Apple Valley, MN, Genelle D. Frizzelle of Richmond, VA, Annette N. Strasbaugh of Sterling, VA and Michelle E. Mathias (Chris) of Brookston, IN and Nephews Michael J. LaMothe (Kimberly) of Herndon, VA and Geoffrey Wilson (Amee) of Chicago, IL. Michele also had several great nieces and nephews.
Michele is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John David "JD" LaMothe.
Friends may call from 9:30 AM (EDT) until the time of Funeral Mass 10:30 AM (EDT) Friday, March 31, 2023 at St. Mary Cathedral of Lafayette, Indiana. Interment to follow in St. Boniface Cemetery.
