Mona's Obituary
Mona Sue Hensley, 90, of Monticello, passed away peacefully at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Aster Place in Lafayette.
Sue was born on July 13, 1936, in Culver, Indiana, to the late Everett Andrews and Genevieve (Ringle) Andrews. She was a proud graduate of Culver High School.
She was first united in marriage to Wilbur Don Cochran in 1957. Together they shared many years before his passing in July of 1994. On September 21, 1996, Mona married Norman Hensley, who preceded her in death in 2003. Later in life, she was blessed to share many loving years with her high school sweetheart, Bob Ross, who also preceded her in death. Each relationship brought its own special memories and chapters to a life filled with love.
Sue was a devoted member of the Crystal Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of Monticello, the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She proudly supported her community and veterans, enjoying the tradition of handing out poppies and helping with grants through the American Legion.
She retired from Basset Rotary Tool in 1993, after 20 years of service. She could be found with a good book and had a special talent for thrifting and took great delight in finding unexpected treasures.
Sue treasured her granddaughter and great grandchildren. She loved being present in their lives, especially cheering them on from the sidelines at their sporting events.
She is survived by her loving son, Robin Cochran of Reynolds; granddaughter, Faleshia Duffey (husband, Patrick) of Monticello; and two great granddaughters, Madison Schafer (husband, Josh) and Jillian Kistler.
She is also preceded in death by three children, Susan Bradfield, Michael Cochran and Jerry Cochran; brother, Cecil Andrews and sister Norma Jean Andrews.
