Nanette's Obituary

Nanette Rebar, 67, of Monticello, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, at Franciscan Health Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana.

Born on September 7, 1958, in Hammond, she was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Marilyn (Ribicki) O'Connor.

Nanette graduated from Munster High School with the class of 1976, continuing her education in banking.

On March 31, 1979, she married the love of her life, Dale Rebar, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hammond, beginning a marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion.

After living in Munster, Nanette made her home in Monticello for more than 35 wonderful years, where she embraced lake life and built countless cherished friendships. She was an active member of the Shafer & Freeman Lakes Environmental Conservation Corporation (SFLECC), and found joy in her water aerobics swim club and many fun times playing BUNCO with her dear friends.

Nanette loved curling up with a good book, cheering on basketball and sports, listening to retro bands at Indiana Beach and then taking joyful rides on the Ferris wheel. Above all else, her greatest happiness came from her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure and lovingly spoiled at every opportunity. She was especially devoted to her beloved dog, Max, who was her constant companion.

Along with her husband Dale, she is survived by two sons, Jason Rebar (wife, Veronica) of Crown Point and Andrew Rebar (wife, Tatijana) of Scottsdale, Arizonia; one sister, Debbie O’Connor-Antilla of Phoenix, Arizonia; four grandchildren, Dominic, Vanessa, Andrijana and Tommy; one niece, Chloe and two nephews, Alex and Charlie.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Roscka Roth & Clapper Funeral Home, from 11:00 am (EST) until time of services celebrating Nanette's life at 1:00pm (EST).

Memorials may be made to the Lake Shafer Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
