Nick's Obituary
Nicholas R. “Nick” Miller, known to many as “Red the Barber”, passed away unexpectedly at his home Friday, September 22, 2023. He had been in failing health from a previous heart attack.
Nick was born July 16, 1982, in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Robert L. and Sherry (Newell) Miller. He was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School.
Nick was an amazing barber. He graduated top of his class and as a color expert from the elite Paul Mitchell Salon in Chicago, Illinois in 2010. Nick worked there for a couple years then moved to Punta Gorda, Florida where he worked for Dolly Parton’s Salon through Paul Mitchell. Nick would later move back to Indiana where he worked for Red’s Barber Shop in Indianapolis and was the one who famously shaved off Andrew Luck’s beard. Later, Nick would move to New Market, Indiana to be close to family and owned/operated his own Razors Edge Design barbershop.
Nick had a beautiful big smile and a fantastic wit; he never met a stranger, and his infectious personality helped him connect with others. He had a heart for God and shared this love to others through pastoring one heart, one soul at a time. Nick was an extremely gifted artist and musician; he toured with the Black Oak Arkansas – Jim Dandy Band as the drummer for many years.
Surviving with his mother Sherry is a 7 year old daughter, Mayzie; two siblings, Savannah and Noah; his paternal grandparents, Robert and Andrea Miller and his maternal grandmother, Vicki Newell. Nick was loved by a wonderful, supportive extended family.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of celebration of his life at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Grace & Mercy Ministries (257 West Oak Hill Road Crawfordsville, IN); Pastors Nathan Miller, Scott Lehr and Jeff Kohern to officiate.
