Patricia M. (Gick) Sego, 92, of Kentland, Indiana passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 3, 2024, at her daughter’s home with family by her side. She was born June 13, 1931, in Fowler, IN to the late Bernard H. Gick and Nora Clare (Plante) Gick. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School in Fowler and graduated as valedictorian from Wadena High School in 1949. She was the devoted wife of Thomas Joseph Sego whom she married on September 29, 1951. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1994.
Prior to her marriage, she lived and worked in Fowler as a legal secretary and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Once she married, she moved to Kentland where she enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom and helping her husband manage their farm. After her children were grown, she worked for several years in the Food Service Department at South Newton High School.
A devout Catholic, Pat was a parishioner at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was active in the Women’s Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 23 in Kentland.
Nothing was more important to Pat than her family. Her happiest days were spent creating cherished memories with them. She loved cooking (her delicious chicken-and-noodles) and baking (the best pies and cakes!) for family gatherings. Pat was a truly nurturing and caring Mother, Mother-in-Law, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. She modeled her Christian faith through her gentle and kind manner to everyone. She will forever be remembered for her quiet support and encouragement of family, and her willingness to always lend friends a hand when needed. May she rest in peace with our loving God.
Pat is survived by her six children Diane Freedman (Irwin) of Peabody MA, Edward Sego of Kentland IN, James Sego (Linda) of Salisbury MD, John Sego (Christine) of Noblesville IN, Mary Sego (Daryl Killian) of Clarks Hill IN and Joan Almack (Earl) of Indianapolis IN; eight grandchildren Sarah Coleman (David), Gerald Freedman, Nathan Sego (Karis), Anissa Gawryolek (Joachim), Hannah Sego, Nora Warnke (Dan), Emily Kieffer (Joe), Marissa Almack; and seven great-grandchildren with two more on the way, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Also surviving is one brother Larry Gick of Fowler, IN. She is preceded in death by her other brothers and in-laws Bernard I. Gick (Agnes), Marvin Gick (Marge), Msgr Arthur Sego, Mary K. Anstett (Harold), Theresa Sego, Jeanette Voglund (Vernon), Romana Sego, Lorraine Sego, Alice Silver (Bill), and Martha Gretencord (Bill).
