Peggy Word

August 01, 1937 - August 08, 2025

Peggy Word, 88, was called to be with our Lord and savior at 3 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2025 at her home in Chalmers surrounded by her family.

Peggy was born August 1, 1937 in Monterey, California and raised by her parents, Carl T. and Thelma J. (Carper) Johnson.  Peggy and her family moved from state to state as her father was in the military and then owned Chevy dealerships in multiple states.

Peggy was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy, where she served as a Radioman.

She lived a full and adventurous life full of love and faith.

Peggy was a longtime member of the Sequim Baptist Church in Sequim, Washington.  She modeled her Christian faith through her service to others, often taking those in need to medical appointments in Seattle.  She also ran the Sunday School daycare for over 25 years, many of those kids thought of her as grandma.

Peggy had a wonderful career as a collection specialist, helping to track down and repossess high value property, mostly boats and cars for a major collection company.

Peggy enjoyed crocheting, reading and puzzle books.  The Sunday paper was always a must for the crossword puzzles contained within.

More than anything, Peggy loved spending time with her family: son, George Morris, her daughter, Charlaine Bucher and her grandkids, Davina, Little George, Elizabeth, Amanda, Trace, Charlie, Tiffany and Heather; her great-grandkids, Jack, Austin, Paige, Adina, Abram, Myrah, Markel, Serenity, Jasean, Drew, Lilly-Kate, Charlee, Bristol, Katie, Kirsten, Christian, Mya Jade, and Freya.  Peggy is also survived by her friends and chosen family she ahs found over her 88 years.  We will all keep her in our hearts for the rest of time.  Rest in Peace.
