Rebecca "Becky" Staton

Rebecca “Becky” (Franklin) Staton, 82, of Kentland, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at IU Health Hospital of Lafayette.

She was born December 24, 1938 in Lafayette to the late Wilbur and Marian (North) Franklin. Becky was a graduate of A.J. Kent High School.

Her marriage of 54 years was to James L. Staton on October 19, 1959 in Kentland. James passed away on December 15, 2013.

Becky was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Tri Kappa, both of Kentland. She worked at the Newton County Treasurers Office for over 30 years and also was the financial secretary at Trinity Methodist.

Becky was a wonderful cook known for her pies and cookies, she loved living in the country, enjoyed gardening and Tuesdays at the restaurant with friends. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family and close friends and will be greatly missed by all.

Surviving is a son, Mike (wife: Elizabeth) Staton of Carmel; brothers, Dave Franklin of La Jolla, CA and Wayne Franklin of Kentland; sister, Martha Small-Stum of Kentland. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Lara and Danny Staton.

Preceding her in death along with her parents and husband are a son, Daniel L. Staton and brother, J. Wilbur “Wib” Franklin.

Friends may call from 4-7 PM CST Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Trinity United Methodist Church of Kentland. Funeral Service 11 AM CST Friday, May 14, 2021 also at Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment to follow in Fairlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Becky’s name to Trinity United Methodist Church.
