Robert "Bob"'s Obituary
Robert (Bob) Mark Vucsko, passed away on October 30, 2024, at the age of 67 in Kentland, Indiana. Born on April 27, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, to Robert John and Nicolina Mary Vucsko, Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity and curiosity that touched everyone who knew him.
Bob is survived by his beloved children; Justin Vucsko, Aaron Vucsko and his wife Shannon, and Alexandria and her husband Markus, as well as his treasured granddaughter, Leona. His two younger brothers, Kirk Vucsko and wife Ginny, along with niece Michelle and nephew Mike, and Barry Vucsko and wife Katie, with nephew Winter, and his ex-wife Nancy Vucsko also greatly mourn his loss.
With a career spanning 30 years as a chief engineer and head of maintenance, Bob found fulfillment in his work, though he was never one to let it define him. Known for his skill with repairs, there was seemingly nothing he couldn’t fix—a talent he approached with pride and diligence.
An admirer of nature, Bob spent countless hours hiking, biking, and marveling at the world around him. He had a deep appreciation of nature, from trees to birds to the habits of bees, and once studied to become a park ranger in his college years.
Bob’s love for storytelling was equally remarkable. A skilled writer, he spent recent years crafting short stories on Reedsy and children’s stories inspired by his granddaughter, Leona. With a strong appreciation for music, movies and art of all genres, Bob was objective and curious, a trait that extended to his political values. A steadfast Democrat, he stood firmly against unfairness and closed-mindedness.
Finally, though he lived in many places besides Chicago throughout his life, Bob had an unwavering love and loyalty to the Chicago Bears, Sox, Hawks and Bulls. Bob’s bold personality made him unforgettable. Outgoing and passionate, he could strike up a conversation with anyone, on any subject, making friends with ease. His warmth, creativity, and zest for life will be dearly missed.
A small family gathering will be held in Kentland, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Nature Conservancy. Robert would love that.
