Ronald V. Atkinson

Ronald V. Atkinson, 73, of Remington, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at his home. He was born January 22, 1948 in Lafayette to Neal and the late Rita (Williams) Atkinson. Ron was a 1966 graduate of Remington High School and later would graduate from Indiana State University in 1970. 

His marriage was to Jean Jackson on January 20, 2001 at Faith Christian Tabernacle of Rensselaer; she survives.  

Ron played the trumpet while in high school and was in the church praise band playing violin. He taught at Thorntown Middle School while living in Florida for 8 years, taught at Ivy Tech for 9 years, worked with his brother, Dale for 2 years in auto body shop and farmed for 40 years. Ron was a self-taught violinist and loved spending time in his garden raising cacti. He also enjoyed restoring his Corvette and building his own airplane.  

Surviving along with his wife and father are stepson, Mathew C. West of Indianapolis; siblings, Barbara (Rodney) Dowell of Valparaiso and Dale Atkinson of Remington. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.  

He is preceded in death by his mother, Rita Atkinson, and twin brother, Donald Atkinson. 

Friends may call from 10 AM (EST) until the time of Memorial Service 11 AM (EST) Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Faith Christian Tabernacle (4911 W. 1100 S., Rensselaer, IN 47978). Interment of ashes to follow in Remington Cemetery. Pastor James W. Blanchard to officiate.
