Ronald L. Perigo, 79, of Lafayette, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at IU Health Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis.
Ron was born May 8, 1943 in Lafayette to the late John and Geneva Perigo. He was a 1962 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and attended Ball State University.
His marriage of 51 years was to Donna Morehouse on June 26, 1971 and she survives.
Ron was a member of the Lafayette Fraternal Order of Police for many years. He began his career with the Lafayette Police Department, serving 20 years on the force. In that time, Ron was also a member of the Lafayette SWAT Team and was the first motorcycle officer with the department. Ron later became Deputy Director with Lafayette Community Corrections holding that position for 17 years. Ron was proud of his service to the Lafayette community.
In his spare time, Ron thoroughly enjoyed spending time on the shooting range and was Marksmen qualified. Most of all, Ron cherished time spent raising his 7 children and adored his grandchildren.
Surviving along with his wife Donna, are children, Janet Smith of Orange City, FL, Paul (Jennifer) Perigo of Lafayette, Debbie (George) Acosta of Lafayette, Jessica Austin of Terre Haute, Matt Perigo of Lafayette, Scott Perigo of Brookston, and Devon Perigo of Lafayette. Ron is also survived by his brother, Bob (Louise) Perigo of Lakeland, FL; 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death along with his parents is one brother, Dwayne Perigo.
