Sandra "Kay" Graefen

Sandra “Kay” Graefen, 78, of Earl Park, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Franciscan Health Hospital of Lafayette.

She was born September 10, 1945 in Blount County, Alabama to the late William and Grace (Dixon) Atchley.

Her marriage was to Leonard Graefen in September of 1961. Leonard preceded her in death in 1973.

Including Earl Park, Kay had lived in the communities of Raub, IN, Sheldon, IL, and Donovan, IL.

She worked at Capitol Products of Kentland for 30 years. Kay loved to cook, enjoyed flowers, and cherished time spent with her family.

Kay is survived by her son, Robert (Rachelle) Graefen of San Diego, CA; one sister, Barbara Hurt of California and several nieces and nephews. Kay is also survived by two grandchildren, Dana and Dallas; and great granddaughter Riley. She will be greatly missed by all.

Preceding her in death along with her parents, is a son, Leonard Graefen and infant daughter Rhonda. Kay is also preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, William, and Douglas Atchley.

At this time, no formal funeral services will be held. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Evergreen Park of Illinois.
