Shelia G. Garhammer

Shelia G. Garhammer, 67, of Kentland, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 3, 2026, at her residence. Born on November 10, 1958, in West Virginia to Bruce Lambert and the late Dixie (McNeely) Lambert, Shelia was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.

Shelia graduated in 1976 from Thorton High School in Lansing, IL, and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lewis University of Chicago. She dedicated her career to caring for others as a Registered Nurse at Cook County Hospital in Oak Forest, IL, and Franciscan Hospital of Chicago Heights and Olympia Fields.

She was married to Gary J. Garhammer who survives her. Shelia was a resident of Park Forest, IL, for several years before moving to Kentland in 2021. She was known for her love of collecting dolls and jewelry and her generous spirit, always willing to help those in need.

Shelia is survived by her husband, Gary; her father, Bruce (Angela) Lambert; her son, Gary (Crystal) Garhammer Jr. of Hampstead, NC; her sister, Sandy of Rockville, IN; and her cherished grandchildren, Griffin, Connor, and Carson Garhammer. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dixie Lambert.

A viewing will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 PM (CST) on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
