Shirley's Obituary
Shirley K. Spear, 85, of Lafayette, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 surrounded by family.
She was born October 15, 1937 in Chalmers to the late Dellus Spear and Dorothy Raines. Shirley was a 1956 graduate of Chalmers High School.
Shirley was employed in the medical field since 1960. She worked as an administrative assistant at St. Elizabeth Central E.R. Department. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and gardening.
She is survived by brother, Frank (Michelle) Spear of Mulberry. Shirley is also survived by many nieces and nephews and special niece, Sherri Begley who offered care and compassion for Shirley over the last 7 years.
She is preceded in death by her father, Dellus Spear; mother, Dorothy (Raines) Spear; step-mother, Nora Spear; siblings, Willard Spear, Willis Spear, Norma Begley, Ruth Emery, and Margie Fulford.
Friends may call from 10 AM (EDT) until the time of Funeral Service 11 AM (EDT) Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Interment to follow in Brookston Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
