Thelma Eileen Tyrrell Redmon

December 03, 1926 - June 20, 2021

Thelma Eileen Tyrrell Redmon was born December 3, 1926, in Wolcott, IN to the late Leo and Grace (Schumann) Tyrrell.

Thelma went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at 4:20 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Ann, where she had stayed for the past 15 days in hospice care.  She had been in failing health for several months.

Thelma lived in Indiana most of her adult life and moved to Carmel a couple years ago to be closer to Ann and her family.

Her marriage of 33 years was to Charles R. Redmon on September 7th, 1946, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette; he passed in 1979.

Thelma attended and graduated from Indiana Business College.  Thelma retired from Purdue University after 30 years, then went back to work at age 70 and retired from Kirby Risk at the age of 80.

Mrs. Redmon was a longtime member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lafayette.

Thelma loved to garden and work out in her yard with her flowers.  She took so much pride in her yard and won “YARD OF THE WEEK” 5 years in a row.  Thelma loved to cook and still cooked herself 3 meals a day for herself at 94 years old.  She loved to bake and would always make sweet treats for her family or nearby neighbors.  An avid crocheter, Thelma would make potholders for family members and friends.  Thelma also loved to send her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren birthday cards in the mail; something everyone looked forward to.  Thelma was an avid college basketball fan and loved attending Butler Girls Basketball games, sitting courtside at all the home games, with her son-in-law, Jim.

Surviving is a son, Charles David Redmon of Florida; a daughter, Ann Redmon Hudson (Husband: Jim) of Carmel; and one sister, Lavina Habel (Husband: Art) of Orland Park, IL.  Thelma and Lavina would FaceTime each other every night at 10 p.m.  Thelma dearly loved her family.  Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jan Hirt, Tim Overley, Julie Overley, Neil Hudson, Taiylor Hudson, Haley Redmon, Kenzie Redmon, Aubree Redmon, Emily Redmon, her 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death with her parents are three children, Linda Biddle, Daniel Redmon and Phyllis Overley and 4 siblings.

Memorials may be given to the Wabash Center in memory of Thelma’s daughter, Linda Biddle Redmon.

Graveside services to be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2021, at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery of Lafayette; Rev. Daniel B. Gartland to officiate.
