Therese M. Mullen

Therese M. Mullen, 90, of Battle Ground, passed away at 1:00 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Mulberry Healthcare in Mulberry.

  Therese was born September 4, 1932, in Terre Haute, Indiana.  

  Her marriage was to James C. Mullen Sr. on March 27, 1949, at Linwood Church of Christ in Lafayette.  He preceded her in death on December 8, 2003.

  Mrs. Mullen was a long time member of Battle Ground United Methodist Church and was also the last living Founding Member of Linwood Church of Christ; a church her in-laws started in 1945.

  Therese was a wonderful homemaker.  She and James always enjoyed having the entire family over to their house for family reunions.  She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.  Therese also enjoyed traveling, including memorable trips to Ireland for her 85th birthday and casino hopping in Northern Michigan with her sister and daughters.  Therese was an avid reader and looked forward to her weekly trip to the library.  She worked part time for over 25 years at Book World in Lafayette.  

  Surviving are her children, James C. Mullen Jr. (Karen) of West Lafayette, Mary A. Bartley of Mulberry, Sue Rhoda (Jake) of Brookston, Kay Mooney (Mike) of Coopersville, MI and Pat W. Mullen of Battle Ground.  Therese loved spending time with her family, especially her 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

Preceding her in death with her mother and husband, is a daughter, Linda Mullen; her sister, Margaret Elliott and two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Natalie.

  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to the YWCA Women’s Shelter in Lafayette.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Bower Cemetery of Montgomery County (10501-10599 N 850 E, Colfax, IN).  Rev. Karen Bray to officiate.
