Betty Jean Poore, 81, of Wolcott, passed away at 8:50 AM, Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at White Oak Health Campus of Monticello.

She was born June 5, 1937 in Claiborne County, TN to the late Dewey C. and Alice M. (Bledsoe) Clark. In 1979, Betty returned to high school attending Tri-County and received her diploma.

Her marriage was to Alvis Earl Poore on July 31, 1954 in Claiborne County; Alvis preceded her in death on May 15, 1995.

Betty was a member of the Butterflies-Wolcott Library Group, and Wolcott United Methodist Church Crusaders. While in Claiborne County, Betty was a parishioner of Mayes Chapel of Tazewell, TN, after moving to Wolcott she joined the Wolcott United Methodist Church.

Over the years Betty worked for many local companies including: Indiana Ribbon Factory, Wayfair, Tri-County High School, Dwyer Instruments, and Cheker Filling Station with her late husband. Most importantly, Betty helped with Debbie’s Daycare where she was known as Mammaw Betty to many.

Betty loved spending her time reading, crocheting, quilting, arts and craft, gardening, and bird watching. Most of all she cherished time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Danny (Connie) Poore, Randy Poore, and Debbie (Mark) Holder all of Wolcott. Also surviving are grandchildren, Karena (Zach) Holder-Price, Karie Holder, Brandon Meyer, Michael (Stephanie) Meyer, Danielle (Quinton) Poore Pearson, and Mackenzie Poore; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Wesley, Juvens, Bella, Zoie Price, and a great-grandchild Price on the way, Keegan Holder, twins Myles and Arianna Meyer, Carter Meyer, and Charlotte “Charlie” Pearson expected soon.

Preceding her in death along with her parents and husband are sisters, Jewel Thomas and Doris Goins; brothers-in-law, Junior Thomas and Troy Goins; nephews, Clayton and Dennis Thomas; grandchild, Deven Earl Poore; great-grandchildren, Haden, Jaden, Finley, and Sloan Price.

Friends may call from 4-8 PM (EST) Sunday June 17, 2018 at the Wolcott United Methodist Church. Funeral service 11 AM (EST) with an hour prior visitation Monday, June 18, 2018 also at Wolcott United Methodist Church. Pastor Jodi Kosary to officiate. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made in Betty’s name to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
