Inge Buffington, 86, of West Lafayette, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.

 She was born November 21, 1931 in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, to the late Otto and Grete Heinen of Nordholz, Germany. 

  Inge lived through the difficulties of the wartime years and postwar period.  She then became a dental assistant and was employed by the U.S. Army Dental Clinic, Frankfurt, Germany, then later in both Minneapolis and Lafayette. 

  Inge was married to William D. Buffington on March 30, 1957 in Valparaiso, Indiana; he survives.

  Also surviving are a son, David Buffington (wife: Karen) of Cincinnati, OH;  a daughter, Lisa Buffington of Flagstaff, Arizona and a sister, Anne Meyer (husband: Werner) of Nordholz, Germany.  

   Inge was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  For her grandchildren, Eric, Morgen and Kylin, she was their beloved “Omi”. 

  Inge was much loved by all the children she cared for in her home for over twenty years. And she loved and was loved by all her dogs for over sixty years. 

  Inge is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Guenter Heinen of Bremerhaven, Germany.

  Services will be held on Friday, February 2nd at 12:00 PM (Noon) ET at the Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home, 101 West 4th Street, Brookston, Indiana 47923.

  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Inge’s name to the Almost Home Humane Society (1705 South 2nd Street, Lafayette, IN 47905).
