John W. Harper, 73, of Monon, passed away 5:22 p.m. Thursday December 28, 2017 at White County Memorial Hospital, Monticello.

 

He was born July 9, 1944 in Winamac, Indiana to the late Elmer & Catherine Harper.

 

John was a truck driver. He was also a faithful member of the Monon Assembly of God Church.

 

His marriage was to Carolyn Hendricks on June 20, 1965 in Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Wolcott; she survives.

 

Surviving with his wife are a son, Michael Harper and a daughter, Julie Byroad both of Monon and a sister, Vicky and an extended family. John loved spending time with his family especially his 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

 

Preceding him in death are a brother, Charlie and a sister, Judy.

 

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Monon Assembly of God Church. Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018 also at the church; Pastors Mark and Don Newman to officiate. Interment to follow in Medaryville.
