Ethel M. Kindel, 99, of West Lafayette, formerly of Brookston, passed away at 4:50 PM Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Indiana Veterans Home of West Lafayette.

She was born January 6, 1918 in Brookston to the late Paul C. and Lillian (Thone) Shultz. She was a graduate of Brookston High School.

Her marriage was to Harold F. Kindel on February 16, 1952 in Lafayette. He preceded her in death.

Ethel was a secretary for National Homes of Lafayette until her retirement in 1970. After her retirement, she moved to Florida and returned to West Lafayette in 2004. Ethel was a prolific artist, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Ethel is survived by her sister, Ruby L. Davis of West Lafayette. She is also survived by 4 nephews and many cousins.

Preceding her in death along with her parents and husband is an infant son, Wayne Harold Kindel; siblings, John Shultz and Dorothy Armistead.

A private inurnment will be held at Spring Creek Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made in Ethel’s name to the Indiana Veterans Home of West Lafayette.
