Irene Victor, 89, of Brookston, passed away at 8:47 a.m., February 28, 2017 at her home. She was born March 5, 1927 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Harry and Margaret (O'Donnell) Schrader. She graduated from Brookston High School.

Her marriage of 53 years was to Harold E. Victor on June 7, 1947 at St. Mary Cathedral in Lafayette; he preceded her in death on December 27, 2000.

   Irene consistently modeled faith, kindness, patience, selfless acts, hard work and forgiveness.  She had a deep LOVE for her husband, her parents and family. Faith was incredibly important to her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, which will remain in our hearts forever.

Surviving are her children, Steven (Peggy) Victor of Zionsville, Michael (Sara) Victor of Brownsburg, Roger (Alice) Victor of Brownsburg, Vicki Snapp of Brownsburg, Kay Mason of Indianapolis, and Nan (Greg) Howland of Santa Clara, CA; a sister, Doris Jean (Virgil) Shultz of Brookston; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Melvin (Maxine) Victor of Flora and a sister-in-law, Barbara Gagnon of Brookston.

Preceding her in death with her husband and parents are two sisters, Margaret Hall and Fern Hughes and a great-granddaughter, Michaela Riley.

Irene was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds. Memorials may be made in her name to the church.

There will be a rosary service at 3:30 p.m. followed by visitation from 4-8 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2017 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston.

Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church (601 S. Kenton Street, Reynolds); Fr. Fintan Cummings to officiate. Interment to follow at the Brookston I.O.O.F Cemetery, Brookston.
