Allene Kerr, 100, of Brookston, passed away at 1:10 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

She was born February 15, 1917 in Monroe County, Kentucky to the late G. L. “Fay” and Kate (Propes) Bailey and attended Monroe County schools.

Allene married Willie “Bill” Kerr on May 29, 1936 in Monroe County, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1994.

Mrs. Kerr was a homemaker. She was a devoted and faithful member of the Brookston Church of Christ.

She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, playing cards and crossword puzzles.

Surviving is a son, Richard Kerr of Brookston and four daughters, Shirley Ticen of Camden, NC, Gleda Williams of St. Cloud, FL, Carolyn “Susie” Williamson of Brookston and Peggy Fasenacht of St. Cloud, FL. Allene loved spending time with her family, especially her 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death with her parents and husband are four brothers, George, Clyde, William and Herman Bailey and three sisters, Jewel Young, Mary Nichols and Joyce May; and a grandson, Stan Williamson.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston; Rev. Dr. Lelan D. McReynolds to officiate. Interment to follow in Brookston IOOF Cemetery.
