David R. Patterson, 74, of Kentland, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Presence St. Mary’s Hospital of Kankakee, IL. He was born April 1, 1941 in Chicago, IL to the late Curtis and Thelma E. (Hansen) Patterson.

His marriage was to Barbara Cooper on August 26, 1961. She preceded him in death on August 15, 2006.

David had lived in many places throughout his life including; Louisville, KY, Steger, IL, Crete, IL, he came to Kentland, IN in 2002.

David was a baker for many years owning and operating Dave’s Doughnuts in Lowell, IN. He enjoyed playing chess, shooting pool, playing Scrabble, fishing, and golfing. Most of all David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Natalie (George) Roop of West Lafayette, George (Denise) Patterson of Steger, IL, Brenda (Emilio) Ibarra of Hammond, IN, and Shane (Cindy) Patterson of Kentland. Also surviving are sisters, Joyce Gifford of Michigan, Joan Van Fleet of Orlando, FL; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

David is preceded in death by his wife, Barbra and parents, Curtis and Thelma Patterson.

Friends may call from 3 PM (CST) until the time of memorial service at 5:30 PM (CST) Monday, February 29, 2016 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland. Pastor Chris Kosary of Raub United Methodist Church to officiate.
