John H. Lanning 79, of Remington, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at IU Healthcare of Lafayette. John was born January 2, 1936 in Mt. Ayr, IN to the late Omer and Ruth (Taylor) Lanning. He attended Mt. Ayr High School. John was a member of the United States Army, serving 4 years. His marriage was to Janet Alberts on March 21, 1957 in Crown Point, IN. She survives. John was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Vets Association. John worked for Crystal Dairy hauling milk for many years. He also drove for 30 years at G&G Oil of Muncie, hauling fuel. He enjoyed racing as a spectator and mechanic, John also enjoyed spending time with his family. Surviving along with his wife are sons, Roger (wife: Zenda) Lanning, Joe Lanning, and John (wife: Edwina) Lanning; an aunt, Ann Wortley. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death along with his parents is a brother, Glen Lanning; a sister, Ruth Lanning.
