Esther Elaine Floyd, 90, passed May 17, 2015 peacefully at her home in Battle Ground surrounded by her husband of 68 years and her family. She was born June 24, 1924 in Rice Lake, WI to the late Frederick H. and May F. (Root) Smalley. She graduated from Kelvyn Park High School of Chicago and completed two years of Business College. She married the love of her life Charles E. Floyd Sr. on April 5, 1947 at the Congregational Church in Chicago, IL. He survives. Esther and Charles have resided in Battle Ground since 1950. Esther was a homemaker and member of Lafayette Church of Christ. She was a former member of the Elmwood Avenue Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and traveling and cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Charles, 4 children, Charles (Suzanne) Floyd Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Leland (Diana) Floyd of Battle Ground, Dennis (Cindy) Floyd of Danville, IL, and Diane (Ben) Powell of Brookston; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and 1 sister, Rachel Klein of Hamlin, TX. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister. Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 pm, Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Brookston funeral home with Dennis C. Floyd of East Park Church of Christ, Danville, IL officiating.
