Ada Marie (Gregory) Crace-Spear, 92, of Brookston, died at 9:52 am, Sunday, December 14, 2014 at IU Health Arnett of Lafayette. She was born on September 3, 1922 in Henry Co. Kentucky to the late Willie Noble Gregory and Lourena (McGuire) Gregory, and she attended school in Portsmouth, Ohio. Marie married Beecher Crace in August, 1941 and he preceded her in death in April, 1962. They had 6 children together. She then married Herman M. Spear in September, 1984 and he preceded her in death in November, 1989. She was a member of the Brookston Church of Christ and the Rebeckah Lodge #807 of Lafayette. Marie is survived by her children; Beecher Crace (wife: Nina) of Brookston, Shirley Hughes of Bloomfield, Steve Crace (wife: Elizabeth) of Christiana, TN, Dora Reynolds (husband: Dennis) of Battle Ground, and Al Crace (wife: Kendra) of Earl Park; a daughter-in-law, Garnet Crace of Oak Hill, OH; step-children, Estell Shaw, Wendy Murphy, Doyle Logan (husband: Ivan) and Shirley Weaver (husband: Larry); and step-daughters-in-law, Hazel, Loretta, and Alpha Spear. She is also survived by 38 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and 7 nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death with her parents and husbands are a son, Robert Crace; daughter, Lourena Crace; two brothers, John C. and Raymond E. Gregory, four step-children, Rester Spear, Wayford Spear, Floyd Spear, and Bonnie Cain; one grandson, Beecher Reynolds, and a great-grandson, Nicholas McCoy. Friends may call from 5-8 pm, Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. There will be a graveside service at 11 am, Friday, December 19, 2014 at C.M. Cemetery of Oak Hill, OH with Minister Stan Howard officiating. Memorials may be made to the Brookston Church of Christ.
