Gene V. Criswell, 84, of West Lafayette, formerly of Wolcott, died at 9:00 pm, Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus of West Lafayette. He was born February 5, 1930 in Wolcott, IN to Raleigh and Ella (Budreau) Criswell and was a 1948 graduate of Wolcott High School. Gene served in the Indiana National Guard from 1950-1956. He lived in Wolcott until moving to West Lafayette in 1975 and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Wolcott Christian Church. Gene was a farmer and worked in sales at Twin City Dodge and JC Penney's in Paint and Hardware. He enjoyed farming and anything to do with cars. Surviving are nephews Denny, David and Duane Criswell; nieces Eloise Spurling, Elise Stamm and April Criswell-Bates; 12 great nieces and nephews and 12 great great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends, Betty, Andy, Monica, Zach, Ben, Sarah, Emily, Jo, and Larry. Preceding him in death with his parents is a brother, Marvin Criswell. Friends may call from 1 pm until the time of funeral service at 2 pm, Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Remington with Fr. Paul Hudson officiating. Interment to follow in Remington Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Remington Masonic Lodge.
