Irene "Mac" Sims, 92 of West Lafayette died at 9:48 am, Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Creasy Springs Health Campus, Lafayette. She was born November 3, 1921 in Chalmers to the late Frank and LaVerne (Wayne) Vaughan. She was a 1941 graduate of Chalmers High School. Her marriage was to Lawrence Sims on October 7, 1944. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1986. Mac and Lawrence farmed in Round Grove until they moved to West Lafayette in 1978. She enjoyed her work as a Sunday School teacher and at " Mom's Time Out" at Elmwood Church of Christ. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, and babysitting. She is survived by 2 sons, Randy Sims (wife: Kathy) of West Lafayette and Rick Sims (wife: Marty) of Brookston; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Walters of Lafayette. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son; and 2 brothers, Barney and Dewey Vaughan. Friends may call from 10:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm, Friday, September 19, 2014 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette. Memorial donations may be given in Mac's name to the Tippecanoe County Humane Society.
