Billy T. Fowler, 80, of Demotte, passed away at 12:01p.m., Saturday, September 6, 2014 at his residence. He was born on December 1, 1933 in McCrory, Arkansas to the late Clarence and Lora (Faugn) Fowler. Billy joined the United States Army in 1954 and served until 1956 and had obtained the rank of Private First Class. His marriage was to Shirley Robinson on April 11, 1953 in Augusta, Arkansas and she survives. Billy retired from LTV Steel of East Chicago in 1989 after 30 dedicated years of service. After retirement, he owned Grant Street Fish Market and Ole South Fish Market in Gary, IN. Surviving with his wife of 61 years, Shirley Fowler, are his children, Kim Fowler, Randy Fowler (wife: Mary), Roger Fowler (wife: Terri) all of Gary, IN, Brad Fowler (wife: Randi) of Monterey, IN and Tabetha Heemstra (husband: Rich) of Rensselaer, IN; and his siblings, Elwanda Taylor of Jacksonville, AR, Lonnie Fowler (wife: Jan) of Winamac, IN, Mitzi Marianetti of Weeki Wachee, FL, and Dwight Fowler of Monterey, IN. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Billy loved hunting, his vegetable garden, playing cards and enjoyed spending time with his family watching NASCAR. Preceding him in death with his parents are an infant son, Denny Fowler, and his siblings, Morris Fowler, Albert "Ab" Fowler, Oretha Davis, Freida Barnett, Harold Fowler, and Sue Sumler. Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. (CST) until the time of Funeral Service at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Graceland Cemetery Chapel of Valparaiso (1505 E. Morthland Dr., Valparaiso, IN 46383); Chaplain Bob Rawlins to officiate. Interment to follow in the Graceland Cemetery.
