Floyd "Buster" Melchi, 67, of Remington, passed away at 10:40 am, Friday, February 28, 2014 at IU Health Arnett of Lafayette. He was born on September 18, 1946 in Decatur, IN to the late Nathan and Beatrice (Peterson) Melchi. Floyd was a 1964 graduate of Decatur High School and went on to earn his Bachelor's at Ball State University in 1969. His marriage was to Sherry Talbott on September 26, 1970 in Williamsport. She survives. Buster was a resident of Decatur and Remington throughout his life. Buster was a member of many organizations, including: Remington Lions Club, board member of Tri-County School Corporation, Theta Chi fraternity, Truckload Carriers Association, and charter member of the Round Table of Remington. He served as President of Schilli Leasing Inc. for 41 years before retiring in November of 2012. Buster was an avid racing and football enthusiast, and enjoyed spending time at Lake George in Fremont with his family. Buster was very proud of time spent with friends building the Remington town Baseball Park. He was also a loving husband. Surviving with his wife are his two sons; Brian Melchi (wife: Erica) of Remington, and Cory Melchi (wife: Nikki) of West Lafayette; and a brother, Pete Melchi (wife: Jean) of Fremont, IN. Buster loved spending time with his grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor, Grant, Peyton, Cannon, Brinley, and Fielder. Preceding him in death with his parents are two brothers, Eugene and Max Melchi, and a sister, Bonnie Schnepp. Friends may call from 3-8 pm (EST), Monday, March 3, 2014 at the First Christian Church of Remington. Funeral Service will be there at 11:00 am (EST), Tuesday, March 4, 2014 with Paul Dyke officiating. Interment to follow in Remington Cemetery.
