Ruby R. Dewing, 80, of Kentland, died at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, February 05, 2013 at Sheldon Health Care Center of Sheldon, Illinois. She was born October 14, 1932 in Kentland to Lulu Wrightstone, and was raised by her grandparents, William and Lulu Leeap. She graduated from Sheldon High School in 1950. Her marriage was to Ralph W. Dewing on March 25, 1951 in Kentland. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2012. She was a member of Covenant Federated Church of Kentland, American Legion Auxiliary, Pythian Sisters and Home Ec Club. Ruby was a beautiful seamstress and enjoyed cooking and gardening. Surviving is a daughter, Carolyn Groover (husband: Joe) of Veedersburg, a son, Dennis Dewing of Kentland and a brother, Jon Wrightstone (wife: Delores) of Annville, PA. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Amanda Bard (husband: Duane) of Iroquois, Illinois, Ashley McDonald (husband: Ross) of Fishers and Gretchen Groover of Veedersburg; two grandsons, Nicholas Groover (wife: Cory) of Kentland and Deric Dewing of Elkhart; three great-granddaughters, Autumn Dewing, Cora Groover and Taylor McDonald and two great-grandsons, Jackson McDonald and Nathan Bard. She was preceded in death by her mom, grandparents, husband, an infant son and two brothers, Lloyd and Don Wrightstone. Private family services are being held at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland with interment at Sheldon Cemetery in Sheldon, Illinois. Memorial donations can be made in Ruby's name to Sheldon Health Care Center Activity Department.
