Brenda S. Boyd, 67, of Remington, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 at her residence. She was born June 24, 1945 in Lafayette to the late Leo and Betty (England) Gerling. She grew up in Wolcott and graduated from Wolcott High School in 1963. Her marriage was to Charles Boyd on February 15, 1969 in Remington. He survives. She worked at Indiana Ribbon for 20 years, and was a member of American Legion Women's Auxiliary and Wolcott Christian Church. She served as the secretary for the Remington Volunteer Fire Dept. Women's Auxiliary and also as the president of her bowling league. Brenda enjoyed bowling, crocheting and playing BINGO, but what she loved the most was spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving with her husband are four children; Leslie Boyd and Steven Boyd of Wolcott, Terry Boyd (wife: Jennifer) of Crown Point and James Boyd (wife: Jody) of Cicero and 12 grandchildren. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. (EST) Monday, February 4, 2013 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Remington. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. (EST) Tuesday, February 5, 2013 also at the funeral home with Rev. Mary van Wijk officiating. Interment to follow at Meadow Lake Cemetery of Wolcott. Memorial donations can be made in Brenda's name to the American Cancer Society.
