Gerald A. Pietrzak, affectionately known as "Jerry Pie", 73, of Remington, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 in Rensselaer Care Center. He was born June 26, 1939 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Bernard and Mary (Pajonk) Pietrzak and graduated from Thornton High School of Illinois. His marriage was to Helen (Millsap) Ingram on May 24, 1994 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She survives. Mr. Pietrzak grew up in the Calumet City / Hammond area. He worked for 37 1/2 years for LTV Steel - Indiana Harbor retiring in 1994. Jerry lived in Ft. Lauderdale for 10 years until moving to Remington in 2003. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Ft. Lauderdale and Remington American Legion Post #280. Jerry enjoyed fishing and watching Chicago professional sports. Surviving with his wife is a Daughter, Denise Pietrzak of Hammond, two sons, Christopher and Carry Pietrzak both also of Hammond and four grandchildren. A memorial visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. (EST) Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Remington. Donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
