Lucas Ryan "Luke" Spitznagle, 21, of Lafayette, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born September 7, 1990 in Lafayette to Ray and Jennifer (Timmons) Spitznagle. He graduated from McCutcheon High School in 2009, but attended Harrison High School until his senior year. He was a member of St. Ann Church & Shrine of Lafayette and worked in construction for Strong Custom Exteriors. Luke was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, kayaking and watching the sun rise. He also enjoyed fishing and setting out limb lines at the campground. He loved his friends, and was a loyal friend in return. He also loved his family, and will be dearly missed by them all. Surviving with his parents is one brother; Jacob Spitznagle of Chicago, IL, two sisters; Megan and Shelby Spitznagle both of Lafayette, maternal grandparents; Marilyn and Tom Timmons of Lafayette and his paternal grandmother; Catherine Spitznagle also of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather; Frances "Charlie" Spitznagle. A rosary service will be held at 3:45 p.m. prior to visitation from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2012 at St. Ann Church & Shrine of Lafayette. Friends may also call one hour prior to his funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012 also at St. Ann Church & Shrine with Father Mike McKinley officiating; interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery of Lafayette.
