Gary Dean DeLong, 65, of Brookston, passed away at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in his residence. He had been in failing health for some time. He was born January 21, 1947 in Lafayette to the late Eugene G. and Ellouise DeLong and was a 1965 graduate of Battle Ground High School. His marriage was to Barbara J. Buntin on September 28, 1968 at Badger Grove Church. She survives. Mr. DeLong was a 48 year member of the OPCMIA (Operative Plasterers' and Cement Masons' International Association) Local 692 of Lafayette retiring in 2009. He attended Badger Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed playing golf and being outdoors. Surviving with his wife are three children, Tanya Bartlett (husband: Phil), Troy DeLong (wife: Heather) and Todd DeLong all of Brookston and a sister, Ruthie Jackson of Ft. Wayne. Gary loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Taylor, Reece, Emily, Alex and Wyatt. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Funeral service 10 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2012 also at the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Lelan D.
