Linda J. (Downs) Sanford, 70, of Wolcott, died at 1:45 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Mulberry Healthcare Retirement Home in Mulberry. She was born on May 5, 1941 in Lafayette to the late John W. and Mary E. (Owens) Downs. Linda attended Elston High School of Lafayette and was the co-owner of Sanford Trucking for thirty years, prior to becoming a homemaker. Her marriage was to Fred L. Sanford on March 11, 1962 in Lafayette. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2010. She enjoyed bingo, sewing, reading, jigsaw puzzles, and watching Judge Judy. She is survived by a daughter, Terri Kelley (husband: Russ) of Frankfort; a son, Fred Sanford (wife: Amy) of Brookston; a brother, John Downs of Lafayette; a sister, Brenda Bisch (husband: Rob) of Brookston; three grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2012 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Tuesday, March 13, 2012 also at the funeral home with Rev. Tom Watt officiating. Entombment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens of West Lafayette. Memorials donations may be made to the family.
