Florence "Lorena" Poindexter, 74, of Wolcott, died at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at her residence. She was born April 5, 1937 in Wolcott to the late Lewis and Virginia (Basford) Sutton. She graduated from Gilboa High School in 1956. Her marriage was to Tim Poindexter on July 15, 1956 at Wolcott Christian Church. He survives. Lorena worked for Thayer Inc. (Indiana Ribbon), RCA, Tri-County School Corporation and Dwyer Instruments. She was a member of Brookston Church of Christ and she enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing cards and other games, as well as spending time with her family. Surviving with her husband are three sons, Gary Poindexter (wife: Kathy) of West Lafayette, Brian Poindexter (wife: Vidaliza) of Wolcott, and Roger Poindexter (wife: Tammy) also of West Lafayette, three brothers, Calvin J. Sutton (wife: Velma) of Francesville, David Sutton (wife: Leann) of Wolcott, and Robert Sutton (wife: Kathryn) of Monticello, and one sister, Sarah Fields of Wolcott. Lorena is also survived by three grandchildren, Shannon, Bryce, and Elaina Poindexter, one great-grandson, Cash, a great-granddaughter on the way, and a dear friend, Vilma Mascardo. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bennie and Ewing Sutton and a sister, Bertha (Sutton) Nottingham. Friends may call from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Foster-Clapper Funeral Home of Wolcott. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2011 also at Foster-Clapper Funeral Home with Florence's grandson, Shannon Poindexter, officiating. Interment to follow at Meadow Lake Cemetery of Wolcott. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
