Nathan R. Shadowens, 62, of West Lafayette, died at 5:55 a.m. Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Indiana Veterans Home of West Lafayette. He was born April 4, 1949 in Lafayette to Robert and Elizabeth Shadowens. He graduated from Jefferson High School and attended Purdue University, where he studied Electronics. He served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1977, and later joined the Navy Reserves. He loved playing the guitar and playing chess, he also enjoyed drawing, reading, tennis, fishing and going to the park to feed the ducks. He is survived by his father, Robert Shadowens, three daughters, Mitzi Wilson of Lafayette, Tina Shadowens (companion: Mark) of Lafayette, Heather Graves (husband: Doug) of Chandler, one brother, Bruce Shadowens (wife: Reva) of Lafayette and 6 grandchildren, Cheyenne, Christopher, Teresa, Michelle, Hunter and Hailey. He was preceded in death by his mother and an infant sister. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at11 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Indiana Veterans Home Chapel with Chaplain David Hess officiating. Interment to follow at the Indiana Veterans Home Cemetery.
