Dixie A. Cade, 89, of Monon died October 23, 2011 at White County Memorial Hospital in Monticello. She was born on the family farm Northeast of Monon on May 3, 1922 to the late Charles and Mildred (Conwell) DeVault. She married Willis B. Cade on September 8, 1940, and he died November 2, 1998. Dixie was a 1940 graduate of Monon High School. She was a member of the Guermsey Church of the Brethren for 70 years, and was a past member of the Rebekah Lodge. She was a homemaker, and also worked for Howe Insurance Agency for many years, North White School Corporation for 10+ years and Indiana Beach for 25 years. Survivors include 3 daughters, Willcina Tiede, Guynith Hornback and Millena Eckert all of Monon, and 2 sisters, Patricia Nord of Monon and Charlene Reppert (husband: Jack) of Rossville. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, 3 step grandsons, 4 step great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Grant "Bud" and Phillip DeVault, 1 sister, DeVonna Jo "Tootles" Allsbury, and 1 great-granddaughter, Allison Nichole Tiede. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Clapper Family Funeral Home of Monon. Services will be held there at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 also at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Birch officiating. Interment to follow at Bedford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Monon First Response and/or Monon Township Library.
