Robert "Bob" Schrontz, 71, of Rossville, formerly of Kentland, died at 11:05 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Central in Lafayette. He was born May 20, 1939 in Frankfort to the late Raymond and Helen Potts Schrontz. He attended school in Frankfort, IN, Columbus, OH and Lafayette, IN. He graduated from Buck Creek High School in 1957. He entered the Navy in July of 1957, and was stationed on the USS McKean where he was a radio operator. On July 3, 1993, he married Charlotte A. Voglund in Kentland. She survives. Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Kentland, Delphi American Legion, NAPUS, and the National League of Postmasters. Bob always enjoyed making people laugh and loved to pester, he also loved the time when all his children and grandchildren got together. He always looked forward to vacationing and taking cruises to exotic places. Bob has a combined 32 years in the postal service; he retired in 1997 from the Postal Service as Postmaster in Logansport. He also worked as a policeman in Lafayette and Kentland off and on for over 30 years. Bob's real passion was to protect and serve the communities he lived in. Surviving with his wife are five daughters, Kelly Markley (husband: Billie) of Nika, MO, Kendra Schuette (husband: Aaron) of Goodland, Shelly Reese (husband: Tim) of Lafayette, Brandi Rough (husband: Jamie) of Monticello, and Erin Romanski (husband: Jim) of Lafayette, two sons, Robbie Strouse (wife: Debbie) of Johnston, OH, and Dirk Schrontz of West Lafayette, and two brothers, Ron Warren (wife: Becky) of Lafayette and Keith Warren (wife: Peg) of Lenexa, KS. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Lynsey Strouse, Conner Morris, Taylor Angle, Taylor and Cameron Schrontz, Morgan, Claire and Grant Schuette, Madison and Mylie Reese, and Jordyn, Jalen, Emily and Ella Romanski. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. (CST) Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. (CST) Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kentland with Father Donald Gross officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery also in Kentland. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bob to the American Diabetes Association.
