Ruby Ann Lord, 80, of Burnettsville, died at 2:30 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare of Burnettsville, Indiana. She was born November 22, 1929 in West Kansas to the late William and Vinnie Everts Hirter. She graduated from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1948. Her first marriage was to Robert C. von Arb on October 27, 1951. He preceded her in death on April 27, 1991. Her second marriage was to Howard Lord on February 4, 1995 and he survives. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Lafayette, and she attended Idaville Church of God after moving to Burnettsville. At age 65, she retired from State Farm Insurance where she worked as a forms control clerk for many years. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, square dancing and tractor shows. Surviving is a daughter, Julia von Arb of Chicago, Illinois, two sisters, Erma Jean Walter (husband: Bill) of Kansas City, Missouri and Ilene Kendall (husband: Jim) of St. Joseph, Missouri, and two brothers, Bill Hirter (wife: Nancy) of Bull Shoals, Arkansas and Glen Hirter (wife: Evelyn) of St. Joseph, Missouri. Also surviving is a grandson, Brandon Stewart of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Preceding her in death is a son, Mark C. von Arb. Friends may call from 1-2 pm Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston, where a memorial service will be held at 2 pm with Pastor Chris Murphy officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the White County Food Pantry.
