Mildred Louise Kapsch, 97, of Kentland, died Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka, Ill. Born March 8, 1913, in Hammond, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Hulda Kurth Doege. She had also resided in Gary and Roselawn. On Aug. 31, 1940, she married Maximillian Peter Kapsch in Crown Point, and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Kapsch was a member of the Tolleston PTA, Naval Seabee Auxiliary and Lutheran Ladies Auxiliary of St. John's Lutheran Church of Tolleston. Surviving are a daughter, Maxine Harris (husband: Richard) of Kentland; and a brother, Elmer Doege (wife: Ruth) of Fallon, Nev.; and her grandson, Donald Harris (wife: Linda) of Kentland, whom she lived with. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Violet Doege of Valparaiso, Dorothy Doege of Bradenton, Fla., and Sandra Doege of Dunedin, Fla.; grandsons, Richard Harris III (wife: Vicki) of Green Bay, Wis., and Robert Harris (wife: Rhonda) of Hartland, Wis.; and great-grandchildren, Max, Sierra, Brandon, Brianne, Brittany and Payne. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur Doege, Franklin Doege, Louis Doege, Herbert Doege and Walter Doege; and a sister, Dorothea Schmidt.
